You Gotta Believe: Just Not in this Movie

I don't have a whole lot to say about this film, readers. I went in hopeful because Luke Wilson (Bobby Ratliff) and Greg Kinnear (Jon Kelly) are two actors who I'll watch in just about any movies they are in. The two do the best they can in You Gotta Believe which unfortunately is filled with about every sports movie cliché imaginable. There's also not a lot of baseball played in a film about baseball. If you see this You Gotta Believe you'll feel like key moments are almost non-existent because of the frantic pace. So as to not come across as a jaded movie reviewer, I'll attempt to highlight some positive aspects.

As You Gotta Believe is a family film I think young viewers will appreciate certain elements. The movie has a lot of energy, some decent laughs and a bizarre scene when a musical number breaks out. However, there are much better baseball movies to watch. Keep reading for a few recommendations as I don't give You Gotta Believe a very favorable review as you can tell. You, dear reader, gotta believe that I want you to see quality films and have your best interest at heart.

Rating:

Yellow Light - I'd recommend films like The Bad News Bears (and the remake Bad News Bears) and The Sandlot. Funny enough, Greg Kinnear is in Bad News Bears.
