You're Cordially Invited: RSVP as a Maybe for this Movie

First off, I know that "maybe" is not an RSVP option on a wedding invite. I ask that you humor me with the idea as you read this review. It may sound strange, but You're Cordially Invited  is one of the tougher movies I've rated so far. I'll explain why. There are things to like about You're Cordially Invited . Reese Witherspoon and Will Ferrell, as Margot and Jim, are good fits for the characters they portray. Witherspoon and Ferrell have tangible chemistry together and you can see what motivates their characters. A lot of the humor lands which is more than can be said about most comedies in recent years. The premise of the film is both funny and stressful. You're also able to empathize with what both families have to deal with. Small Things Like These: No Small Takeaways from this Film

  I'm always impressed with a movie where you don't want to look away from the screen even for a moment. You're so engrossed by the narrative and what the characters are going through. Small Things Like These is this kind of film. Captivating characters, engaging storylines and thought-provoking questions abound in Small Things Like These . Bill Furlong (Cillian Murphy) is one of the more interesting movie protagonists I've seen in recent years. He lives a quiet and simple life, but you want to learn more about him and what he is motivated by. Thankfully, the film provides more information about Bill as the story progresses. You like him a lot and want to see him succeed. The antagonist, Sister Mary (Emily Watson), presents a strong contrast to Bill. Sister Mary is a cruel and conniving person. To see Bill and Sister Mary interact is enthralling. The tension is palpable as the characters could not be further apart in what they see as being right and acceptable. The cent...
